The club’s annual general meeting was held on Wednesday 16th September, 2009. A healthy gathering of members arrived to elect their new representatives for 2009-2010.
The presidents report was tabled from outgoing president Mr. Danny Maguire in which he outlined the success of the club in the last twelve months and the future possibilities given the boom period which Dalby is experiencing at present.
The treasurers report tabled by Mr. John Wicks, reported an increase in both members competition rounds and also an increase in social player rounds. One which again is attributed to the number of visiting labour workers on the numerous projects around Dalby. The clubs finances are presently showing positive results.
Once again reports from both our men’s and ladies captains, Mr. Kev Roberts and Mrs. Yvonne Jackson highlighted the support we receive from the numerous business houses and members. With their support, the club has been able to put on a number of quality days for members and the public. In saying that, we are proud to support local charities and community groups in their fund raising efforts.
The course under supervision from Mr. Bill Baker and groundsman Mr. David King has continued to improve each year. With the continual support from volunteers we have seen over 30 tons of quality fertilizer spread over the course, improvements which will in time make the course even better. More improvements are planned for the next 12 months.
The clubhouse under the directorship of Mr. Sid Capewell and secretary manager Mrs. Leanne Toms has seen many improvements with the redecoration of the mens locker room, entrance and maintenance carried out as required. Fridays night meals are continuing to grow as well with patronage for functions.
The club patron Mr. Alan Duncan has stood down from this position, one which he has proudly held for many years and the baton has been passed to another club identity Mr. Alf Hockings. Alf, whom was awarded life membership to the club in 2008 presided over the current clubhouse erection in 1986 and has also been the clubs voice to the Darling Downs Golf Association for many years.
